Just Colorin’

After all the phonics, after all the math, after all the sorting, after all the word practice, after all the writing, and after all the letter writing . . . we color!!

Today, I put a whole bunch of coloring pages in the art area for our free play time at the end of the day. Your children took right to them! They had a blast just coloring and chit-chatting. Great kids, great day.

3D Shape Collection

Thanks to all of you who worked with your children this weekend to find some 3D shapes to bring in to school. Below is a picture of most of our collection of cones, spheres, rectangular prisms, and cylinders. This was a blast to see what was brought in by each child and share them. We look to continue to do more with them through out the week as we revisit this vocabulary.

Pictures: Statue Making

Today we learned about the Statue of Liberty in social studies. We used this concept to relate to the children that the Statue of Liberty represents freedom, liberty, and safety to United States citizens. Each child used play-doh to create a statue of something that represents these ideals to them. Below is the photo gallery. Enjoy!

See You on Monday – General Classroom News

This is just a quick blog post to remind you that there is no school tomorrow. I also want to share some quick news about what is going on in the classroom. This week we spend a bit of time in math on money. We have been working with identifying the penny and the nickel, and learning their values. Later we will add more coins and work on exchanging them with equivalent values. In literacy we have been working on rhyming, and have all had guided reading lessons with Mr. Marchionda. Mrs. Musha has been working with our students on their color words, and Ms. Jorenby has been working with us all on our writing skills.

See you on Monday!

Thank You, Parents

I just wanted to take a quick moment to say a warm thanks to all of you parents for helping your child with the valentines for our party yesterday. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed giving and receiving this little gifts from our friends. Thanks, also, to to the parents that sent in the wonderful treats we enjoyed!

Unfortunately, I was too busy helping pass out valentines that I forgot to take any pictures!
